Marty placed a strong 2nd in his Heat, leading for much of that race. In the Semi Final, Marty placed 4th against Denmark's René Holten Poulsen, who won in 3:35.848, with McDowell clocking 3:42.033. The other semi-final winners were Max Hoff (Germany), Serbian Dejan Pajic and Aleh Yurenia (Belarus).
AIMEE FISHER
Aimee was the surprise of the day, battling nerves to come 2nd in her heat. She came 2nd behind Lisa in the Semi Final, setting a personal best the fifth fastest qualifying time for the A final tomorrow.
Fisher clocked 40.797secs in the semi-final, with Carrington's 40.200 comfortably the fastest time of the day.
"It was awesome to be able to line up with Lisa - it was just like being at home and I'm really looking forward to the final tomorrow to see how the Kiwi girls can go," a jubilant Fisher said. "Racing K1 has been so much fun. It was a massive experience and I'm also really looking forward to taking all that stuff I've learned into the K4 tomorrow."
LISA CARRINGTON
As expected, Lisa placed 1st in her heat, 1st in semi-final. She looked comfortable and in control, powering to the fastest qualifying time for the A Final.
Scott Martlew has competed his Rio Paralympic Dream with an eighth place finish in the A Final.
